Adult Care Workers make a positive difference when people are faced with physical, practical, social or emotional challenges. Responsibilities are varied and determined by the type of service being provided and the person supported, but often workers are based in residential or nursing homes, domiciliary care, day centres, a person’s own home or a clinical healthcare setting. Delivering whatever care is needed, wherever it's needed, is the guiding principle of the Adult Care Worker.

End-Point Assessment Components

To complete their End-Point Assessment, Adult Care Worker Apprentices must achieve a pass, merit or distinction in the following two components.

  • Apprentices are presented with a range of real-life scenarios about which they are required to answer 60 situational judgement test questions. The assessment is undertaken online and under controlled conditions with a time limit applied. The questions are drawn from the stated knowledge and skills elements of the standard and focus on the higher-order competencies.

  • In the concluding assessment element, the End-Point Assessor leads a 45-minute professional discussion to uncover additional evidence of personal development activities and how this learning was applied to the role and workplace. However, apprentices can only apply to undertake the professional discussion aspect of the assessment after they’ve achieved a pass in the situational judgement test.
