Based on your responses, we thought we’d answer the most frequently asked questions. Everything you’ll need to know about our review is below.


Why did you withdraw qualifications?

The TQUK Qualifications Team reviews the uptake of our qualifications on a quarterly basis.

During these reviews, we identify which qualifications have very low or zero uptakes. This is important because it shows that these qualifications are not meeting the needs of our customers. A list of these qualifications will always be circulated to centres so that they have the opportunity to request that a qualification is retained because they have an identified market in the near future.

We value all feedback from centres and understand that it takes time for a market to become established.

We are withdrawing most of these qualifications because of low learner registrations. However, at other times, we withdraw qualifications because we have developed an updated version which will replace the current qualification. In these situations, we will notify centres of the new qualification.


I had learners lined up for a particular qualification. Why was my qualification on the list of withdrawals?

Why does it matter that I didn’t register my learners?

When reviewing our list of qualifications, we gather data from our Management Suite. Data on the Management Suite includes what centres are delivering a qualification and the number of learners registered for that qualification.

Sometimes, however, centres forget to register their learners on our Management Suite.

If centres do not register their learners with us, we will see that 0 learners have been registered on that qualification.

We may withdraw the qualification as a result.

How can I register learners?

It’s easy!

You can register your learners with us on our Management Suite. Log in to your account with your username and password and click on the appropriate tab.

What is the connection between withdrawals and apprenticeship standards?

We’re developing some new qualifications that are intended to be used alongside the new apprenticeship standards.

In order to streamline our offer further, we’re withdrawing qualifications where the content overlaps with these new qualifications.

These qualifications include:

  • TQUK Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Barbering (RQF)

  • TQUK Level 2 NVQ Diploma in Hairdressing (RQF)


The qualification I would like to offer has been withdrawn. Is this decision final?


You may request that a qualification is reinstated in the future. There will be the option of updating and bringing a qualification back if you have a suitable business case.
