pexels-photo-large.jpgFrom the 1st October 2017 the Construction Related Occupation card will no longer be an acceptable means of identification or qualification to work in a construction environment.

Construction Skills Certification Scheme (CSCS) has said the CRO card is no longer fit for purpose and in the meantime has consulted with companies within the industry to determine the best way to address the issue.

Apprenticeship_levy.jpgSince the countries decision to revoke its European Union membership in June, the education sector has been waiting with baited breath as to the state of the proposed Apprenticeship Levy.

Finally, the government has dropped an update regarding the levy, and to the relative surprise of some - it’s full steam ahead.

Nearly all employers will only have to contribute 10% to the cost of an apprenticeship from April 2017 as per the release from the Department for Education this morning.

What does this mean? The government will pay 90% of the costs for 98% of employers, those with annual wage bills below £3m and thus not paying the levy.

Most importantly of course, the UK people voted to leave the European Union causing debates and debacles up and down the country until we were all red in the face (we didn’t realise there were so many politicians amongst Facebook users!). But now that the dust has settled somewhat, we have seen an array of politicians passing through the big black door of 10 Downing Street - and in both directions.
