Why is engineering important?

Engineering is about problem-solving. Using specialist technical and practical skills, engineers utilise acquired skills in maths, science, research, prototypes, design, maintenance and production within a variety of industries.

Engineers are important because so much of the world’s infrastructure relies heavily upon the engineering at the outset to be precise and efficient in order for projects to be completed and timelines met. They provide technological solutions to the problems, issues and ideas that affect every area of our lives.

A career in engineering has the potential to be a varied one. Any learner who is looking to embark on a career in engineering should expect to be presented with many avenues to travel. As an engineer, you could be working in an office, in a laboratory, on an oil rig in the middle of the ocean, a factory floor, or even in outer space! Some of the most popular industries that require engineers are:

  • Defence

  • Space

  • Energy

  • Transport

  • Environment

  • Medical and Pharmaceutical

  • Construction

  • Marine

How does a TQUK qualification help?

TQUK regulated qualifications provide learners with a great platform for success into their chosen industry. As the new TQUK Level 3 Diploma in Engineering (RQF) is a regulated qualification, it conforms to the guidelines as set out by our regulatory body, Ofqual, and can be utilised as a certificate of learning around the world.Particularly with sectors like Engineering, it’s important for learners to have attained the right regulated qualifications to highlight their skills and prove to employers that they have undertaken a regulated qualification and ascertained the necessary skills to be successful in an engineering environment.

For Training Providers, a regulated Engineering qualification ensures validity and content. It means that you can safely inform and educate learners knowing the content has been approved by subject experts.
