The DfE Shares Update on KS4 Technical Awards

The Department for Education (DfE) has announced an extension of the current moratorium on Key Stage 4 (KS4) Technical Awards featuring in school performance tables until further notice.

As a result, no new or substantially changed KS4 Technical Awards will be accepted for inclusion in the 2027 performance tables. This decision aligns with the Curriculum and Assessment Review, which evaluates qualification pathways across all key stages (1-5) and aims to provide stability in vocational education for 14-16-year-olds during this review period.

In addition, the post-16 review of qualifications at level 3 and below remains a significant focus for Awarding Organisations, ensuring the sector can effectively prioritise this substantial work.
