Off-the-Job Training
Off-the-job training in End-Point Assessment (EPA) refers to the learning and development activities that occur outside of an Apprentice's normal working duties, designed to support their achievement of the apprenticeship standard.
Off-the-job training is mandatory for all apprenticeships and should account for at least 20% of an apprentice's working hours. This training should be directly relevant to the apprenticeship and help the Apprentice develop the knowledge and skills required to meet the assessment criteria.
The training may take many forms, including classroom-based learning, e-learning, work-based projects, and assignments. It is intended to supplement the apprentice's practical experience and enable them to develop a broader range of skills and knowledge that will support them in their chosen career.
Employers are responsible for providing their apprentices with access to off-the-job training and should work with their providers to ensure the training is relevant and effective. The training is assessed as part of the EPA, and the apprentice must demonstrate that they have acquired the necessary knowledge and skills during the training to successfully complete their apprenticeship.
